Chemnitz May 10, 2023, Chemieanlagenbau Chemnitz (CAC) celebrates another milestone in the energy transition with self-financed photovoltaic system. This covers 20 percent of the annual electricity requirement.

CAC, technology provider of climate-neutral synthetic fuels from renewable energies, invests in a photovoltaic (PV) system on the company roof on Augustusburger Straße. From now on, the engineering services provider will be able to cover up to 20 percent of its annual electricity requirements itself with solar energy, reducing its carbon footprint by around 40 tons a year. "The installation of a PV system is our contribution to the energy turnaround by ensuring a more climate-friendly energy supply at the company headquarters with renewably produced electricity," explains Jörg Engelmann, Managing Director of CAC. "As a pioneer in fuel technology, we are already replacing fossil fuels with synthetic fuels and reducing CO2 emissions in transport by up to 90 percent. Installing a PV system was therefore a no-brainer for me." With the pioneer of the photovoltaic industry, the company Solarwatt from Dresden, she now combines, in addition to the regional proximity and customer relationship, to be one of the movers and shakers of the energy transition.

Solarwatt installed a total of 228 modules on 450 square meters of roof surface. After deducting unusable areas such as walkways, shaded areas or firewall areas, this corresponds to about half of the total roof area with the maximum possible usable area. This was preceded by a roof renovation including insulation to today's energy-efficient standard.
