CAC modernizes its IT Infrastructure to improve innovation in the Oil and Gas Industry

CAC trusts in IBM and SAP to digitize Processes

CAC trusts in IBM and SAP to digitize Processes.

Chemieanlagenbau Chemnitz (CAC), a global plant and process engineering business, is working with IBM Consulting and SAP to digitalize their processes and accelerate their move to the cloud using BREAKTHROUGH with IBM for RISE with SAP. This will help CAC speed up innovations, cooperate better with clients and suppliers and reduce costs.

Chemieanlagenbau Chemnitz (CAC) headquartered in Chemnitz, Saxony, is a leading international plant engineering company in the field of process and chemical engineering. For more than 55 years, CAC has been active in the fields of inorganic chemicals, refineries and petrochemicals as well as gas technologies and industrial plants. The company is constantly looking into new innovations and offerings. As one example, it promoted its market-ready technology for producing synthetic fuels that are almost CO2 neutral and clean to create a unique selling point for fuel of the future. To support its ongoing innovation goals, the company launched a program called CAC4future and worked with IBM to digitalize its processes to gain speed and flexibility and reduce costs.

Since 2021, IBM Consulting has been supporting CAC in updating existing software running on several different systems by consolidating it into a single instance of SAP S/4HANA® while streamlining workflows and automating processes wherever possible. As an early user following the announcement mid-February 2022, CAC is benefiting from BREAKTHROUGH with IBM for RISE with SAP. As part of this offering, IBM is the single point of contact for business transformation, licenses, technology and application management. IBM also supports CAC in moving their ERP workloads to the cloud. One initial area of focus for the company was process optimization in the areas of procurement and supply chain. CAC now has access to SAP® software on its mobile devices, which means efficient entry processes can be issued directly online. This speeds up the process, makes it more transparent and improves cooperation with suppliers.
“Digitalization of our processes is core for ongoing innovations and customer-oriented project handling,” states Philipp Hadlich, Project Manager, CAC. “For that reason we are happy to have IBM Consulting as a single point of contact for all our IT related topics in scope of our CAC4future program.”

Martin Welt, IBM Senior Managing Consultant, adds: “We are very proud that CAC has full trust in us as we are continuously optimizing their so-called “nervous system,” meaning the IT landscape, which is today the heart of every business model. With our transformation capabilities combined with our skills and unique technologies, we lay the basis for CAC to constantly accelerate new innovations and business in the market.”

This year IBM and SAP are celebrating their 50-year partnership of helping remove complexity for their clients while advancing clients’ ability to innovate and scale. CAC is a great example of how the two companies join forces to accompany clients on their digitalization journey.
