Engineering Order For Gas Processing Plant in Syria
CAC, Chemnitz, has been awarded a contract for engineering services for the construction of a gas processing plant in Syria by Stroytransgaz (STG), Russia’s large-scale enterprise for con-struction and erection services which is headquartered in Moscow.
The Scope of Services of the contract signed in Damascus on March, 09 2006 comprises the ex-tended Basic Engineering, Detail Engineering including the preparation of all technical procure-ment specifications as well as support in the construction and commissioning of the plant. The order volume amounts to approx. Euro 11 million.
The plant to be built for the final client, the Syrian Gas Company, will have a daily capacity of 6.3 million m3. It will be supplied within 22 months and installed some 70 km to the west of Pal-myra, a town which is one of the World Heritage sites.
The plant complex processes natural gas coming from the deposits to obtain pipeline grade. For this purpose, amine scrubbing is implemented to remove any hydrogen sulfide. The permissible water content is then adjusted with the aid of glycol drying. Finally, the larger hydrocarbons are removed by means of cooling with deep-frozen propane. The plant will not only produce natural gas, but also liquefied gas (LPG) and stabilised gas con-densate as well as pure propane for own demands.
“By signing this agreement we have not only bolstered our strong market position in the collabora-tion with our Russian partners, but have also managed to broaden our international focus on the Middle Eastern market”, said Joachim Engelmann, Chief Executive Office of CAC, on the occa-sion of signing the agreement.
