CAC will build a modern gas turbine power plant in Kazakhstan
A contract for the erection of a gas turbine power plant in Kazakhstan has been awarded by the Kazakh firm AO "Mangistaumunaigas" to Chemieanlagenbau Chemnitz GmbH (CAC), having its registered office in Chemnitz / Germany. CAC will, in collaboration with Siemens AG, carry out the detail engineering, procurement as well as supervision of erection and commissioning for this project. The power station is expected to start regular operation in February 2007.
The gas turbine power plant will have a capacity of 2 x 45 MW. The future operator of the plant, AO "Mangistaumunaigas", intends to use the power generated by the power plant for meeting the electricity requirements of the oil production operations and of the facilities for the subsequent treatment of the oil and natural gas at the oil field.
Kazakhstan has seen a dynamic economic growth in recent years based on the production of oil and natural gas and processing of petrochemicals. Kazakhstan has the largest oil deposits found in the past 30 years. They are estimated by experts to be in the range of about nine billion barrels. This figure demonstrates the importance of the country for the international chemical sector.
For CAC, this order means a continuation of its excellent business relation-ship with Kazakhstan. CAC is currently building an infusion plant for the Kazakh pharmaceutical industry.
